Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
