Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
