Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
