Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
