Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
