Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
