Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
