Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might just be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
