The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and started playing poker before becomming a teenager.

The young gambler began betting gin and at the age of ten had won his initial gin tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the age of fourteen the small poker genius had become a professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York today.

The fast talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic greats like Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a actual ability for wagering poker except despite his achievements in Texas hold’em poker, he preferred wagering gin.
